WHO AM I ?

Self Enquiry

Self-Enquiry is the inspection and analysis of the „I“-Thought and its perciever. It’s a common practice in Jnana Yoga.

You ask with the sincere expectation to find the answer. You have to really look for the „I“ that you want to know, for the one who is asking.

It’s not something you repeat over and over like a mantra to calm your mind and reap some benefit from.

Self-Enquiry only works if you have some real sincere interest in finding out who you are… if you want to only be part of a gang of insiders or be in the know to not be alone, it will not help you.

While you might discover psychological patterns, likes, and dislikes, Self-Enquiry does not mean to find attributes that best describe your personality. It means to become the witness to your attention and simultaneously turn it onto yourself.

Yoga of the Intellect

Self-Enquiry is a practice of the mind to transcend the mind and go beyond it. The detection of the „I“ thought and the Identification that comes along is an essential part of Self-Enquiry.

Eventhough it is aiming to go beyond the mind a certain mental flexibility is needed.
